Arundo5: Reed the Story

An afternoon or evening of unexpected musical discoveries.

Arundo5: Reed the Story is a fully conceived concert experience, ready to bring to your audience and designed to work beautifully in a wide range of spaces, however unconventional.

Through beautiful music, storytelling and humour, we’ll introduce you to five distinctive instruments with one surprising family connection: the reed. We’ll show you how the contrasting voices of the oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon combine to create a sound that is warm, vibrant and versatile.

Our imaginative arrangements and engaging introductions bring the music we love to life in a concert full of character, warmth and surprise.

The show is ready to perform, while still giving us the flexibility to adapt the length and programme to suit your venue, audience and occasion.

MUSIC TO CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE

From the vivid colours of Ravel and Albéniz to the wit of Cole Porter, we choose music to delight, intrigue and surprise. You might hear a tango, a striking new work by a British composer or a vivid reimagining of a jazz standard.

Reed the Story is designed to welcome both experienced concertgoers and people discovering this kind of music for the first time. We’ll guide your audience through the programme with stories, context and introductions, so no specialist knowledge is needed — just curiosity, an open mind and a love of a good tune.

HOSTING ARUNDO5: Reed the Story

We perform entirely acoustically, bringing the warmth and character of five reed instruments directly into your space. From village halls to intimate concert venues, we can create an engaging musical occasion without an elevated stage or special lighting.

All we need is five suitable chairs and enough light to read our music. We’ll talk through your space and plans with you, helping you make the most of your venue.

What Promoters, Bookers and audiences Say

“It was so inspiring to hear the quintet perform — a fantastic day all round!”

Emily Taylor, Co-Founder & Project Manager, De Mowbray Music Following a wind chamber music workshop and performance planned and led by Arundo5

“I liked the way each musician chose a piece of music and explained to the audience their reasons for choosing it. It made for varied and enjoyable listening — uplifting and foot-tapping at times, more thought-provoking and mysterious at others. Great entertainment.”
